We're Making Changes
What’s on Megan’s Mind?
Everything about how we match women is about to change.
One of the purposes of this newsletter is to keep our community informed about the Project and our plans for managing it. This edition of the newsletter is going to be heavily focused on announcing our plans for the future, so please read closely!
We're canceling all subscriptions, and shutting down the Synchrony Community online portal.
Why?
-
-
-
Right now, the pricing for Synchrony unfairly places the burden of upkeep on our female clients, and does not require the same level of investment from our male clients. Furthermore, our female clients are likely to wait significantly longer than male clients to find a match due to the disparities within the pipeline. We feel that it is unfair for women to pay significantly more for the time they spend waiting on men to join the pipeline.
-
We’ve also found that the Synchrony Community Portal (an online platform that subscribed clients can access) is unintuitive and not great for building stronger connections. We want to create better ways for our body of clients to interact, and just feel that the Community portal creates too much overhead and risk for not enough benefit.
-
We’ll be cancelling all subscriptions for men and women in August. Please stay tuned for more information about the final cancellation date. This will not change the pipeline status for any of our clients; everyone who is currently being actively matched will continue to be considered active for matching.

We’re changing our consultation pricing for women.
Why?
-
-
This feels like fairer pricing, and saves female clients money in the long-run. Synchrony’s operating expenses run just under $1,000/month (this includes the cost of our website and podcast platform, subscriptions to various technical tools that we use to increase security and productivity, and 5 hours/week of part-time help from Britney, our lovely Administrative Assistant). We anticipate that we’ll be able to cover those monthly expenses with just consultation fee payments for at least the next year or so, and plan to tighten up our technology, travel, and advertising budgets significantly to allow for that reduction.
-
From now on, women will pay a flat $325 (not including any sales or discounts offered) for their consultations, and will not be required to pay any additional funds after that, no matter how long we need to search for a match for them. This means that female clients who wait for a match for a full calendar year will save around $225, and will save an additional $24.99/month after that, for as long as it takes for us to match them.
-
This change means that we will need to find a new way to keep our pipeline up-to-date and note when women are available for matching vs. when they’re taking a break from the search. We’re looking for automated ways to update our pipeline tool and will keep you posted about that.
-
Women’s consultation bookings will re-open August 1st, but not for long.
Why?
-
-
We’re seeing the benefits of having shorter, more condensed periods of new client intake. When we have women signing up year-round, it means that the vast majority of my available time is filled with new consultations. While I find getting to know new clients to be absolutely delightful (truly--it's the highlight of my week!), filling up my after-work hours with just consultations means I have less time for matching, hosting dates, and checking in with existing clients. Those are important parts of this work, and I need to leave intentional space for them in order to serve everyone to my best ability.
-
Our pipeline will open to new female clients on August 1st, and close August 31st. You read correctly: new clients will have one month to purchase their consultations. We’ll likely hold a couple of flash sale dates during the winter holidays, but will not re-open for an extended period of intake until after the New Year. TL;DR–if you’re a lady who wants to work with us, plan to book in August. Remember that we offer several ways to pay with installments in case paying the entire consultation fee up front is not optimal for you.
-
We still have a lot to figure out about this new structure.
-
-
We believe that the changes above are going to provide a better experience for our female clients and help us balance the demands on our time and energy. We don’t know for sure how it will work, and I’d like to ask for your grace as we get our act together.
-
We’re exploring new options for how to connect our clients for fellowship and camaraderie, outside of our online community platform. We’re open to suggestions!
-
We still don’t have a clear picture of how to price our services for men. Right now, the Freemium model will remain in place, but please stay tuned for more updates about how we plan to adjust that for the future.
-
We’re grateful every day to do this work, and are even more grateful that you’re here to be part of that with us.
Sincerely, and with love,
Megan
Prayer Requests
In lieu of Resources and Announcements, we’d like to ask for you to add the following to your prayer list for this week:
-
Pray for members of our community who have suffered a tremendous loss. We are grieved for them, and are praying for God’s peace, comfort, and healing.
-
Pray for the leaders and pastors of our Singles, whose discernment and empathy have such an impact on the lives of our clients and all unmarried Apostolics.
-
Pray that the Lord would continue to guide us with the next steps for the Project. Our aim is, and has always been, to support Singles in building families that bring Him glory. That work, and the results of it, belong to God.
