Dreams
What’s on Megan’s Mind?
I’ve been heads down, focusing on new consultations lately (which has been DELIGHTFUL! Welcome to all of our new clients!) and in times when I’m feeling stressed and a bit overworked, nothing feels better to me than visioning about the big picture. I am a person who is motivated by a 1, 3 and 5 year plan–if I can’t see where I’m headed, my velocity slows dramatically.
I imagine that some of you may be the same way, so I wanted to take a second to share with you some of the things I’ve been dreaming about. Some of these goals are in progress, some of them are just vague ideas, and some of them are blue-sky hopeful things that will take the miraculous hand of God to bring to pass (we believe He can do it, though!). I am in no way committing to making any of these possibilities materialize on any specific timeline. But I’m hoping that this roadmap may serve as a time capsule for all of us to look back on sometime in the future so we can celebrate what God has done.
I’m dreaming that in one year from now:
-
We’ll have written a book, directed to church leadership and Singles alike, compiling the data we’ve been fortunate enough to gather on the single experience in the Church and the challenges facing individuals who are searching for a Godly spouse.
-
We’ll have the first iteration of an age-agnostic curriculum for teaching saints to choose their spouses well, ready to pilot at a church.
-
I’m also hoping that we’ll be in a position to offer additional services, like dating coaching, alignment checks for dating couples, and pre-engagement coaching, to any Apostolic couple (Synchrony-founded or otherwise).
-
I’m hoping we can have at least one in-person meet-up that most of our community can be part of– maybe a long weekend social of some kind? Send me your ideas!
-
Of course, I’m also dreaming that we’ll have a dozen or more additional engagements or marriages en route, and many other matches on the way!
I’m dreaming that, in three years from now:
-
I will have either found a way to move to working on Synchrony full-time, or have found a way to train and hire some additional matchmakers who can help us support more clients more effectively. Ideally, I’d love to do both of those things.
-
Many churches in different Apostolic organizations will be adding Synchrony data and curriculum to their resources, and actively using them to support their Single saints in their search for a great partner.
-
“Values-alignment” and “Apostolic dating culture” will be buzzwords that most young adults and Singles’ Ministries have heard and have begun using in their discussions of dating and singleness.
-
The parents of many Apostolic teens and young adults will be learning about how to talk to their kids about dating and how to support their search for a spouse from the start.
-
The Synchrony Community will include a host of married couples who met via Synchrony and who will be actively working to encourage, uplift, and match those in the community who are still searching.
I’m dreaming that, in five years from now:
-
Matchmaking is a “normal” way for Apostolics to meet their future spouses.
-
Many churches have Synchrony-trained coaches and dating experts available to support Singles in their search.
-
There are standalone, dating-focused training events (read: not Singles conferences) where Singles can attend to meet potential partners, but also to learn about how to identify their values, remove dating barriers, cultivate rich connections, and progress a connection toward marriage.
-
Steven and I are dragging our kids along to more conferences, training summits, and weddings than they care to attend, and are kissing dozens of Synchrony Grandbabies at each event.
-
We’re losing fewer potential families to population drag and seeing new churches being planted at an unprecedented rate, populated and staffed by amazing couples who share a single-minded focus on Kingdom work.
I’m sure the Lord will change these plans and dreams quite a bit; He continually surprises us with his creativity in how he rearranges our priorities. I’m ok with that– I know wherever He leads us, and this community, will be for the good of His church. Thanks for dreaming with us!
Sincerely, and with love,
–Megan
Apologies
I need to take a moment to say sorry to those of you who are currently waiting on a response to an email or a text message that you sent some days or weeks ago and still haven’t heard back from me yet. I always want to set realistic expectations for what I can provide to clients in terms of my availability, but if I’m being honest, lately I’ve overestimated the time and energy I’ve had available to respond to communications. Some of the delay is logistical (this past couple of months has been busier than expected) and some of it is psychological (the more emails that sit waiting for a response, the guiltier I feel about it, and the harder it is for me to sit down and clear out my inbox). I’ve been in a funk. I’m starting to surface from that now!
Please know– it’s not you, it’s me. Your experience is important to me, and I’m going straighten out my big girl jean skirt and get that inbox cleared as soon as I can. In the meantime, I’m always so grateful for your patience, and I promise I’m working on a longer-term solution to help with response time.
Announcements
We’ve already had 39 ladies sign up for Synchrony consultations! I’m excited to continue to meet all of you.
Please remember to share the info about the consultations with your single female friends who may be hesitant. They are welcome to reach out to me directly on Instagram Messenger with any specific questions!
Pipeline Profile
By the numbers:
-
Available men: 37

Available ladies: 160

Matches in progress: 5 (10 people total)
I’m going to do my best to sneak in some matching over the next week or so and make sure I leave some room in our consultation schedule for dates. This may mean I’ll be offering date timeslots at slightly different times of day (like 9pm ET on a weeknight–sorry!) or with more spread out meeting options. Thanks for being flexible!
